Southgate Community Library opened at its present location one block south of Florin Mall in 1975. Just a few blocks from the Florin Road exit of Highway 99, the library is easily accessible by public transportation and has plenty of parking space for those who arrive by car.
The branch serves an ethnically diverse population of more than 75,000 south county residents spread over 52 square miles. The library has a large collection of Vietnamese materials, and other non-English materials are in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Hmong.
Books and magazines are sold year-round in our lobby by the Southgate Affiliate Friends of the Library. The money raised is used to support the library by paying for programs and purchasing books and other materials.
