had it right. And then the likes of Joe Cocker
and Sesame Street
drove it home. We get by with a little help from our friends and supporters.
At Sacramento Public Library, we have some of the greatest friends. There is the Sacramento Public Library Foundation
, created as a nonprofit corporation in 1984 to encourage support for the benefit of the Sacramento Public Library. The Foundation provides more than $125,000 annually for the Library’s Summer Reading program. This past year, a few of the Library’s initiatives funded by the Foundation included a refresh of our bookmobile collection in support of Raising Readers, our school-readiness program funded by a generous grant from First 5; technology for teens at the Colonial Heights Library, and of course, distributions from endowments that support the Sacramento Room
and books and materials.
We're also generously supported by the Friends of Sacramento Public Library
who provide advocacy, support and funding to support the Library’s goals and priorities. They provide direct support to our libraries, and are instrumental in programs such as Book First
and our annual night out with the River Cats
Our supporters are some of the best in Sacramento. In fact, just a few short weeks ago, the executive director of the Foundation, April Javist, received the Social Ventures Partners of Sacramento’s 2017 Fast Pitch
award. Join us in congratulating April
on her big win!
