Arcade Library reopened on Sat., June 3 at 10 a.m. after undergoing an interior refresh. The community was invited to celebrate the re-opening with staff and other patrons.
The celebration kicked off with an African drum program followed by face-painting activities and storytime crafts, tours provided by teen volunteers, a 3D printing demo, and a chance to win four tickets to an upcoming River Cats game.
Library of Things reveal
The Library of Things revealed new items for checkout, including additional GoPros, a Behringer DeepMind Synthesizer, a Fender guitar and amplifier, a GreenWorks cordless lawn mower, a Sun Joe electric pressure washer and a cordless leaf blower.
The refresh was done to reflect the changing needs of the community by improving technology resources, ergonomics, access to collection and services and overall use of space. The refreshed library now highlights:
- A new early learning space complete with new learning devices funded by a $5,000 donation from the Point-West Rotary
- Teen space with new furniture and computers
- New and additional seating that is comfortable and functional with access to more power outlets
- Enhancements to the Tom Sanderson Design Spot makerspace with a $10,000 donation from his family
Supervisor Susan Peters held a meet and greet at the celebration.
