Sacramento Public Library

Exactly where she is meant to be

Local teen library volunteer celebrated by city and county officials
Clare Howley has been a teen volunteer with Sacramento Public Library for four years, serving two years as the president of the North Natomas Library Teen Advisory Board. In that time, she has moved mountains — planning program after program, pulling in 30-70 fellow teens for each event. She also helped kids gain an enthusiasm for reading by serving as a summer outreach ambassador to school kids and at Councilwoman Angelique Ashby’s Summer of Fun events.

While celebrating her achievements at a recent Authority Board meeting, Clare shared why she was so passionate about volunteering at the Library. Watch her moving statement below, one that moved Councilwoman Ashby to conclude the recognition portion of the meeting with these motivating words: “You fit in and are exactly where you are meant to be.”

Clare is pictured with another celebrated volunteer, Immanuel Hargrave. We'll share his story in August.
