Summer Reading is underway and we want to hear your stories, like this one shared by a librarian about an eager Summer Reader.
“When I was introduced to the class as being from the Library to talk about Summer Reading, one of the kids started to bounce in her seat and her teacher said to me, ‘Mr. Ricardo, she has used her Summer Reading pencil from last year every day this year during reading review.’ The young girl held up the pencil and it was about two inches long — including the eraser!
“This was so extraordinary to me because I realized how treasured even the smallest items can be for a child. That we’re a part of that excitement for thousands and thousands of kids each year is what has kept my energy flowing for the dozens of classes to come.”
