Summer Reading 2017 is here and it’s time to Read by Design
It’s almost like this year’s Summer Reading Program was created just for Sacramento Public Library. After all, we have makerspaces
at our Arcade and Central libraries where you can bring your ideas to life, the I Street Press
for printing your great American novel, and of course, our Library of Things
, newly expanded with more useful items that you might want to borrow, but not buy.
Let’s face it, do-it-yourself (DIY) is here to stay and we want everyone in the entire community to visit any one of our 28 locations to tinker, invent, doodle, concoct and make — all summer long. Want to make kombucha? We can help. Need support with learning to knit? The Library can help with that too.
Summer Reading should be a family affair. Kids up to the age of 18 receive a free book for the first five books they read and adults receive a free book from the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library Book Den and bag that can be used to hold Library checkouts, craft supplies or groceries. Everyone gets entered into drawings for gift cards and, most importantly, you can keep reading all summer long. The bonus is that you’ll have plenty to talk about on your road trips as you tell one another about what you’re reading!
We want to thank all of the generous people who give to the Sacramento Public Library Foundation and the Friends of Sacramento Public Library. The dollars you give make our programs possible.
Come on down to your favorite library and design yourself the perfect summer!
