Two city libraries now open 7 days a week

Effort is part of the City of Sacramento’s youth initiative
Two city libraries in the 28-library Sacramento Public Library system will now be open seven days a week. New hours at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library and Valley Hi-North Laguna Library have been made possible with funding from the City of Sacramento as part of one of its youth initiatives.
New hours from June 10 to September 1
Martin Luther King, Jr. Library and Valley Hi-North Laguna Library will be open at the following times:
  • Sunday — Noon to 5 p.m.
  • Monday through Thursday — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday — Noon to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
More programming
Both libraries will feature new programming to support the extended hours. Anticipated programming will be:
  • Culturally enriching
  • Family-focused
  • Creative
More lunches

Lunch @ the Library (for kids 18 and younger) begins on June 12. Starting Monday, June 18, summer lunches will be offered on Mondays at both locations, for a total of 5 days each week.

Health services

We're partnering with Elica Health Centers to bring their mobile Health on Wheels clinics to our libraries in July. The vehicles feature state-of-the-art mobile health clinics with full exam rooms.
