On August 29, the Sacramento Public Library Authority reached agreement regarding e-reader devices with the U.S. Justice Department and National Federation of the Blind. The Library Authority has been working closely with the California State Library and the Department of Justice to resolve this issue. As part of the agreement, the Library Authority will launch a pilot program using accessible text-to-speech devices with a test group identified with the help of the California State Braille and Talking Book Library. Once pilot testing is complete, it is anticipated that accessible devices will be made available to the visually impaired public starting in the Spring of 2013.
