Included in the February 1 through March 11 Black History Month exhibition at the
Central Library is the recently discovered Bible, signed by the entire 1953 Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team and giving to the team’s general manager, Branch Rickey. Rickey is credited for breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson in 1945.
This unique Bible was found among boxes of donated books at the
Friends of the Sacramento Public Library‘s Book Den warehouse. For more details about the discovery, view the
