What was your favorite reference/reader’s advisory question?
I once had a father ask me, in all seriousness, to give a convincing reason why he should let his nine-year-old check out and read comic books instead of chapter books that day. I talked a lot about how comics build literacy skills, and pointed out that I’m a comic reader and grew up to be a librarian. When I was finished, he and his son walked out with a few volumes of Bone
by Jeff Smith.
If you could only read three books for the rest of your life, they would be:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
by J. K. Rowling, because I never get tired of it. Brave New World
by Aldous Huxley, because it’s one of the most meaningful books I’ve ever read. Cooking for Geeks
by Jeff Potter, because it’s full of ideas and useful trivia.
One interesting thing about me is…
I have a black belt in Aikido.
Favorite person to follow on Twitter/Pinterest/Facebook/tumblr/etc
YA author Maureen Johnson. You should follow her, too, even if you never plan on reading her books. Trust me. You’ll thank me later.
