Improving literacy improves quality of life

6/3/2013
Hear from adult learner Steve Tafoya about the impact the literacy program has made on his life.

Steve Tafoya fought in Iraq and rose to the rank of Sergent without being able to read and write. He was able to fool his children that he was reading to them until they got old enough to read themselves and could recognize that he wasn’t telling them the story in the book.

In this video, Steve talks about reaching some of his goals. He recently passed his driver’s license test, and is now enrolled in classes at Sacramento City College. He and his tutor Anna Ramirez have worked on these goals as a team.
