Tuesday, May 14, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Up first will be an enchanting trip back to the Sacramento of the 1940s on May 14. Library staff members Amanda Graham, Tom Tolley and James Scott will illuminate everyday life, exploring social life and entertainment, the homefront and contribution to the war effort, businesses, schools, transportation and post-war changes.
Tuesday, May 21, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Other Tuesday treats include the Sacramento Art Deco Society’s fashion show featuring vintage clothes and accessories of the 1940s on May 21.
Tuesday, May 28, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Local film historian Matias Bombal will share 1940s film clips and discuss the movie-going experience of the era on May 28 .
Visitors to the Central Library
can also view displays of 1940s material from the Sacramento Art Deco Society
and Sacramento Public Library throughout the month of May. Display subjects will include Japanese internment and the Sacramento homefront during World War II.
