One Book Kickoff

Reading, ravens and reincarnation at the Library Galleria.
On Wednesday, October 2, about 130 people gathered at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria for our One Book/Slender Poe kickoff party. We screened two intriguing films from “The Poe Project” film festival, watched a very dramatic reading, and greeted a special guest as we kicked off a month of festivities around our One Book selection: The Slender Poe Anthology, produced by the I Street Press.
Book Author John Allen
Matthew Donaldson starred in “Ligeia,” which won Best Film among the “Poe Project” entries. We also really appreciate him agreeing to play the ghost of Poe for our kickoff event. Our “Poe Laureate” John Allen Cann is on the left. A professor at Cosumnes River College, Cann wrote the introduction and supporting materials for The Slender Poe. Cann also gave a rousing reading of “The Raven.”
Ligeia Cast
Paul Kramer, who adapted and directed “Ligeia,” with Donaldson and his “Ligeia” co-star Amelia Belle.
New Helvetia Brewing
Sacramento’s New Helvetia Brewing Company made a beer for One Book Sacramento, Edgar Allan Porter. Here’s New Helvetia’s Brian Confresi and Dave Gull with Donaldson.
