Sacramento Public Library

From the Director: May 2014

Library Director Rivkah Sass reminds us that summer is time to Paws to Read.
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost here. During the month of May, staff at Sacramento Public Library will be visiting schools and gearing up for the thousands of programs we have planned to get everyone to sit down and “paws to read” (pun intended).
While Summer Reading is officially from June 1 – August 31, the staff and Friends at the Belle Cooledge Library are getting a jump on things with their annual ice cream social on May 30. Check our website for more kick-off events at a branch near you.
Join us at the Central Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, for an afternoon of activities to get the whole family reading. There will be stories, music, crafts and the chance to build your library at home with a visit to the Library’s Scholastic Book Fair, open from noon to 4 p.m.
As a bonus, the first 40,000 people who sign up will receive a complimentary ticket to a Sacramento Kings game!
Summer Reading is for everyone, ages ZERO to 120. Help us break all previous records for summer reading, prevent the “summer slide” and win free stuff.
Let’s show the world that our community READS.
