Sacramento Public Library

Changes to online catalog

8/29/2014
The catalog landing page will offer a more streamlined design starting Sept. 2.

The library has maintained two search systems over the past few years in an effort to ease the transition to the newer catalog interface. The catalog homepage (www.saclibrarycatalog.org) will soon offer only the newer catalog interface and sunset "Classic Search."

The newer catalog interface features facets, which allow you to refine your search directly from the results page. This allows you to narrow your search by:
  • Availability: Search only for copies you can check out today.
  • Title or subject: This feature is useful when you’re looking for “The Sun Also Rises,” and not a book on astronomy.
  • Format: Refine your results to offer you only eBooks, or physical books, audiobooks on CD, or whatever media type you need.
  • Collection: Sort by age group or library location.
  • Language: We have lots of languages—even Sanskrit—but that latest bestseller won’t be much fun if it’s written in a language you don’t speak.
