Sacramento Public Library

From the Director: Sept. 2014

8/26/2014
Please allow us to reintroduce ourselves!

Outside the Lines

From Sept. 14-20, our Library will be celebrating Outside the Lines, a weeklong celebration to reconnect communities with the creativity, technology, discovery and all of the fun and unexpected experiences happening in our libraries – think 3D printers, punk rock aerobics,  job coaching, small business help, service to veterans, community gardens, seed libraries, book publishing and more. Add a visit to Big Wheels to see the original Batmobile and we’re going to have a great September.

Tell Us What You Think

Outside the Lines is all about the unexpected things you’ll find at your library and we’re taking that a step further. With a grant from the California State Library, our Arcade Library is going to be the place for us to learn and try new things, implement new ideas, offer great experiences for you (It really is all about you!) and use what we learn to create the Sacramento Public Library of the future.

Library Unexpected will pilot a "Library of Things" – a collection of items that can be checked out or used in the library, from badminton sets to a 3D scanner in our Design Spot. Starting Sept. 14 you can vote for which items you'd like us to provide at saclibrary.org/libraryofthings. The items with the most votes (and that are most feasible for library use) will be purchased.  In addition to the Library of Things, expect to see exciting programs, new technologies and a lot more fun at the Arcade Library in the coming year!

So come on, reconnect with SPL.
