How Do I...

Request a book

  1. Find a book or item in our online catalog.
  2. Click on Request or Request It next to the title of the item.
  3. If all copies are checked out, you will be placed on a waiting list on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
  4. Enter your Library card number or username and PIN.
    • NOTE: A PIN is a password you use to access your library record and to request library material. If you do not already have a PIN, you will need to create one in the box displayed. Your PIN should be 4-10 numbers and/or letters, all lowercase, and without spaces.
  5. Select where you would like to pick up this item.
  6. Click on Submit above information to place your request.
    • NOTE: If you are entering your PIN for the first time, you will be presented with a screen where you will need to confirm your new PIN and pick-up point. Click the Submit above information button to resubmit your request. Make note of the PIN you create – you will use this same PIN every time you request an item.
  7. If your request was successful, you will see the following message: From Potter’s field / Patricia Cornwell. / Your request has been sent to the library
    • If you receive any other message, please call us or visit your branch. We may be able to place the request for you or help you find a comparable item.
  8. When the item is ready for pick up, we will email or call you to let you know the item is ready.
    • To select how you prefer to receive notices, visit your branch or learn how to select your notice preferences online.
