What is Summer Reading?
Summer Reading is a fun, free, all ages program challenges you to read and complete activities to win awesome prizes and stay busy all summer long.

Why is Summer Reading important?
Summer Reading is an entertaining and effective way for kids maintain and grow their reading skills over the summer break, and a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to read with and do activities that prepare younger children for reading.
 

SIGN UPs Begin on May 15

Sign up online or at any Sacramento Public Library location. Summer Reading is free and open to all ages.


READ

On June 1, start reading and logging books. Read 5 books and win a book to keep.
 

WIN

Summer Reading challenges you to read all summer long. Read and complete activities to earn entries into our grand prize and branch prize drawings.
 
Read 5 books and receive a prize.

  • Kids and Teens - free book to keep
  • Adults – a reusable tote bag and a certificate for a free book from the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library Book Den

 
Starting in July, complete 25 books or more and win:

  • Summer Reading Medal
  • Every 500 points earns another entry into the grand prize drawing (up to 20 entries)
