***SPOILER ALERT*** - Coming out at you is the sequel to the Warcross duology, Wilcard!!! Mind you, this book was really good!!! After the end of Warcross, Emika Chen barely survives the Warcross championships. She faced off against the person she knew that she had to take down, Zero. But Zero had other plans, to take down Hideo Tanaka. Hideo Tanaka and Emika Chen are actually in love and, yes, you will read the chemistry all about it in the first and second book. But anyway, back to the plot. Zero wanted to stop Hideo from creating the algorithm which has the ability to take control of people's minds when they decide to do something bad such as crime or murder. The thing is, Hideo didn't mention that part of his plan to Emika. Now, the only person that she has ever looked up to, and who had been her lover, betrayed her. And as you can imagine, Emika is forced to join forces with Zero. Later on in this book you will discover (that is, if you do read it) Zero is actually Sasuke Tanaka, Hideo Tanaka's long lost brother whom he searched for for his entire life. The whole point of this algorithm was to find the criminals behind the kidnapping of Hideo's brother. Then, as Emika's adventure continues, she discovers that Zero was working for Dr. Dana Taylor, who by the way is very evil. She ironically ends up dying but is afraid of death itself. Anyhow, Zero turns out to just be a hologram, a compression of data. Sasuke has died, and a part of his soul lives on inside of Zero. Eventually, at the second Warcross championship game (which required a rematch because the Phoenix Riders had been suspected of cheating but that wasn't the case at all because the public eye was just blind and stupid) Dr. Dana Taylor had been shot and killed by Hideo because Emika had told Hideo what Taylor had done to Sasuke by creating him into Zero. Zero ends up taking control of the algorithm that Hideo has created to control everybody. Then Emika, Hideo, and the team of Phoenix Riders set out to find Sasuke in Zero's mind. They wanted to put back the memories and have him back to when he was Hideo's brother. Eventually, that does happen. Later on there is a new CEO of Henka Games (Warcross) who calls Emika and hires her to build a team to rebuild and recreate the Nerolink to be better. Hideo as you can already imagine, was required to serve his sentence, but later on moved to house arrest. Then Emika invited him to the team to work on this new Nerolink. Fast forward to a couple years later: Emika Chen becomes the CEO of Henka Games and is seen holding hands with Hideo Tanaka as they walk out of a restaurant together. Does their love boat still sail? I imagine so.
