The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan

Young Percy Jackson learns he's the son of Poseidon after his mother disappeared. What'll Percy do?

    - Someone Over the Rainbow
    The Fellowship of the Ring

The Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R. Tolkien

A great book that is the core of what you want in a fantasy novel. Although the books are pretty bulky, there are only three. Masterly crafted, this book brings everything you want in a book. Drama, action, adventure, and suspense all play a major part in this book. One thing you have to look out for is remembering who is who, and how they each specifically tie into the story.

    Fullmetal Alchemist

    Fullmetal Alchemist - Hiromu Arakawa

The entire series is a must-read for any anime, science fiction, or fantasy fan. The series also has an anime adaptation available on Netflix and Hulu. The book itself mixes culture and fantasy, giving scientific and realistic explanations to the crazy stuff that happens. This book is violent and bloody but gets an 8/8 on my record.

    A Step From Heaven

A Step From Heaven - An Na

A Step From Heaven is about a young Korean girl who's going to heaven, or America. But it's not all as she expected it to be. Watch as she saves a life and succeeds in life. And definitely have some tissues ready.

    Ender's Game

Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card

A must-read and a hugely successful book about a young boy sent to battle school to prepare for a war against a dangerous race of bug creatures that could mean genocide for all of mankind. This is a great book, filled with action and suspense, but the plot can sometimes be hard to follow.

    The Iron Trial

The Iron Trial - Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

A decent book, similar to Harry Potter, except this time he doesn't want to go to magic school. Cal has failed at everything, and this time he has failed at failing. In an attempt to not go to the school, he ends up demonstrating magical potential, sending him to the school. However ,be careful and read carefully, as the plot can often end up confusing.

    A Separate Peace

A Separate Peace - John Knowles

A Separate Peace is about two young boys named Phineas and Gene. Gene is your average high school kid - he had a good balance between studies and sports. Phineas, however, was a brave, athletic, good-natured kid who could get away with anything. This is a book about what happened between them right before World War II, which effects the story greatly. Read it - you'll like it!!
