Donating Books

The Friends really appreciate your donations of good used books. However the truth is that we are not able to sell many of the books that are donated to us. Here are a few guidelines to help you determine whether your proposed book donation will be helpful to us: We are looking for books in the condition you would seek if you were looking at used books to purchase - not torn, dirty or marked up. We find we can't sell encyclopedias older than 2000 or textbooks or magazines or battered paperbacks, so we don't accept them. We will appreciate your understanding. Some of the branches may accept magazines, so you may inquire there

We appreciate your bringing your book donations to us at the warehouse in the rear of the Book Den at 8250 Belvedere Avenue. Belvedere Avenue is located one block south of 14th Avenue, between Power Inn Road and Florin-Perkins Road. We accept donations on Wednesdays, 9 am to noon, and on Fridays and Saturdays during Book Den open hours, 9 am to 2 pm. If you absolutely can't bring in the books, please call the Friends office (916-264-2880) and leave your name and number and we'll call you to arrange to pick them up. Please do not leave books at the warehouse when no one is there to accept them.
