About the Library
New Elk Grove Library
The City of Elk Grove purchased the cold shell building, located at 8900 Elk Grove Boulevard on the southeast corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove Florin Road, to replace the current leased facility for the Elk Grove Library. The City closed escrow on this 13,785 sq. ft. building on Monday, October 16, 2006.
In March 2007, the City of Elk Grove contracted with Group 4 Architecture, Research + Planning to develop required tenant improvement construction documents for the new library facility. In October 2007, Schematic Design Documents were reviewed and approved by the Project Team, consisting of City of Elk Grove staff, Library Authority Staff, and Group 4. Presentations regarding the library floor plan, building program, and the project schedule were conducted for the community on November 13, 2007, and for the Elk Grove City Council on December 12, 2007.
The Elk Grove City Council approved a ten year lease for the building with the Library Authority on November 14, 2007.
Plan check construction documents were submitted to the City of Elk Grove in late December 2007.
