As library staff meets with our customers, to solicit opinions about how they view the Sacramento Public Library, to determine what services and programs are meaningful, and to solicit ideas and suggestions for new directions the library should take, a number of key themes have emerged. People view the library in the following ways: as a leader

for reading in the
community; as integral to the educational process; and as a major influence
and participant in the cultural and educational life of the community.
A customer-focused strategic services plan has been developed by library staff, in order to embed these important views, generated from community input, into a renewed direction and vision for the library. Implementation of this plan will engage the library in working closely with our customers so that we may better anticipate and respond to emerging trends and to meet changing needs.
