Since she published the first Outlander novel in 1991, Gabaldon has sold more than 17 million books in nearly two dozen languages. The books have also been turned into a Starz TV series that will debut this summer.

Outlander is a bestselling, award-winning book series by Diana Gabaldon. Part time-travel romance, part historical fiction, the story takes place in both the 18th and 20th centuries, primarily in Scotland and America.

The series follows the romantic journey of Claire, whose travel through time led her to marry Scottish Highlander, Jamie Fraser. The latest book in the series is expected to be published in fall 2013.

Sacramento Public Library’s "How Outlandish!" program series enlightened and entertained Outlander fans, as well as those interested in Scottish culture and history in general. Historians, scientists, language scholars, and musicians guided patrons through the Outlander adventure like never before.
