Free Computer Access:

The following local agencies offer free public access to the Internet and to Microsoft software. Please call individual agencies for current hours and to make appointments.

Free Computer Classes:

In addition to the free classes listed here, the library periodically offers training in basic computer skills at other locations. For more information, call the library at (916) 264-2920.

  • A. Warren McClaskey Adult Center

    The McClaskey Adult Center offers open-enrollment MacIntosh and PC basic computer literacy classes to adults. Students work at their own pace in a lab setting with one-on-one guidance. Call to reserve a space.

    The Carmichael Library offers Basic Internet Training classes on the first Saturday and Using the Electronic Library Catalog classes on the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Call to register.

  • Fremont School for Adults

    The Fremont School for Adults offers free evening and Saturday classes in computer literacy, keyboarding, the Internet, and various applications such as Access, Word, and PowerPoint. Classes are free for adults who have not yet received their high school diploma or GED.

    The Grant Skills Center offers free self-paced computer classes to anyone over the age of 18. They offer courses on keyboarding, the Internet, and Microsoft Office programs, such as Word.

    Sacramento Works Career Centers offer reference materials, resume writing software, word processing, Internet access, telephones, and fax machines to job seekers in the Sacramento area. Check the web site or call 263-3800 for information on locations.

  • SeniorNet
    The nonprofit SeniorNet provides adults 50+ access to and education about computer technology and the Internet to enhance their lives and enable them to share their knowledge. SeniorNet offers reasonably-priced classes in basic computing, word processing, the Internet, database management, and spreadsheets. SeniorNet has two locations in Sacramento:
