The Sacramento Room's Sheet Music Collection offers songs dating back to the late 19th Century, many with outstanding graphics. Gold and the the Gold Rush are recurrent themes, and some covers resemble the fruit crate labels popular in the early 1900s.

Included in the collection is, of course, a copy of California's state song, "I Love You, California," written by Los Angeles merchant F. B. Silverwood in 1913. Alfred Frankenstein, a former conductor of the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra, put the words to music.

There are numerous pieces of music about Sacramento, including tunes dedicated to baseball and the Alhambra Theater.

The capital city's Camellia Festival and Days of '49 Celebration have both inspired compositions.
