Planned Projects

Elk Grove Library retrofit

Plans are underway to relocate the Elk Grove Library to a new site in late 2025. The new site at 9260 Elk Grove Boulevard in the former Rite Aid pharmacy will provide thousands of feet of extra space and flexibility to better meet the changing needs of the community.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Library renovation

The City of Sacramento will renovate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library to meet our community’s future needs. Construction will begin in 2025 and will be completed in 2026.

North Sacramento Library retrofit

The former Sacramento News & Review Building will become the new home of the North Sacramento-Hagginwood Library. The City of Sacramento acquired the building in 2021 and plans are underway to retrofit the space for a new, larger library.
