Orangevale Library Expansion to Begin July 2020
Expansion will add new amenities and nearly double library footprint
June 16, 2020
In July 2020, crews began work to expand the Orangevale Library into an adjacent retail space. The renovation plans will add new features to better meet the needs of the community, make the library fully ADA accessible and nearly double its footprint from 4,320 square feet to 7,910 square feet. Once completed, the Orangevale Library will feature a new community room, spaces designed for teens and children, two new study rooms and more computers for public use.
“A larger, more enhanced library has been on the Orangevale community’s ‘wish list’ for decades,” said Library Authority Board Chair and Board of Supervisors member Sue Frost. “The renovation designs were the result of a series of community meetings and focus groups in which residents consistently requested more space and more amenities to accommodate a multitude of uses and better meet community needs.”
Construction began on July 14 and is expected to be complete in mid to late 2021.
