We stand with the Black community

Black Lives Matter
June 1, 2020

Anti-Racist BooklistBlack Lives Matter. Our hearts mourn with the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and others. We acknowledge acts of oppression and violence have been present since the start of our nation. We are aware that systemic racism, brutality and social injustice continues to be prevalent. We are dedicated to change.

We are acknowledging, listening and educating ourselves on the legacy of injustice in our country. We are learning and unlearning. We are training and empowering our staff to practice equity, diversity and inclusion in all that we do.

Libraries strive to provide a place where all are welcome. We strive to provide a respectful space for our communities. A place where a multitude of diverse voices can be heard, amplified and celebrated. Libraries are a place of learning and where the community comes together.

We have gathered resources to help us all learn from one another, highlight different voices, and advance conversations on race and oppression. Our librarians have selected the following reading lists with titles from our collection for all ages. We will continue to add to these for our communities.

An Antiracist Reading List
