Annual Report demonstrates library's impact in FY 19/20

Sacramento Public Library FY 19/20 Annual Report

Sacramento Public Library released the FY2019-20 Annual Report at its January Board Meeting. The report highlights the library's impact on the Sacramento region from the past fiscal year.

Key Highlights
  • In 2019, the library conducted 83 community conversations across all 28 locations to uncover the most pressing community issues and identify ways to meet those needs.
  • The library continually invests in its facilities to provide the community with dynamic and functional public spaces. In July 2019, the newly renovated Sylvan Oaks Library reopened to the public. 
  • The library's response to the global pandemic demonstrated its ability to be nimble and meet the community’s needs in person and online. Digital circulation surged in the spring and staff launched 21 new virtual programs and services.
Despite the challenges faced in the extraordinary year, the Library continued to receive industry recognition including:

  • Sacramento Public library, Public Library Association Overdrive recognition for 2 million eMaterial checkouts Award – June 2020
  • Amber Clark, Mover and Shaker Award from Library Journal – March 2019
  • Sacramento Public Library, Inaugural Kline Prize – October 2019
  • Sacramento Public Library, 2020 ALSC May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture featuring Neil Gaiman
  • Viola Allo, American Library Association Spectrum Scholar
