Some of our favorite picture books are those which are not only fun to read together, but go beyond telling the same story from the same perspective over and over again. A brand new title this month takes the familiar “bath time” picture book and infuses it with Japanese culture:

The Big Bath House by Kyo Maclear, illustrated by Gracey Zhang
In this celebration of Japanese culture, family and body positivity, a little girl, her grandmother and aunties visit a traditional bath house where they partake in the rituals that lead up to the bath itself: hair washing, back scrubbing, and, finally, the wood barrel drumroll. Until, at last, it's time, and they ease their bodies into the bath. Ahhhhhh!

Trending Now
The new title in the Cat Kid Comic Club series by Dav Pilkey, arguably the hottest kids’ books in existence at the moment, is on the way. If your kid loves all things Cat Kid, make sure to give one of these other books a try while waiting for your hold or that serendipitous Lucky Day copy.
What’s New This Month
Some fantastic new picture books based on real life are on the way, along with a new Minecraft book, the latest middle-grade novel by Jason Reynolds, a couple of fun graphic novels, and more.
