Standing with the AAPI Community

Standing up against racism, xenophobia and social injustice
April 5, 2021

We stand in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. We affirm our commitment to support our communities and stand up against racism, xenophobia and social injustice.

As a library we strive to be a welcoming place for everyone, where all voices are included and heard, a place where our diverse community can come together. We are learning and unlearning. We are training and empowering our staff to practice equity, diversity and inclusion in all that we do. This includes expanding our understanding and educating ourselves on the history of anti-Asian racism in our country and communities. The Model Minority Myth has been used to oppress and silence the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. These ideologies and historic and present-day experiences of racism, xenophobia and social injustice do not stand alone -- they are connected.

We ask that you learn with us. Speak up and out against racism and xenophobia.
