What We Are Reading
The Husbands by Holly Gramazio
"I needed something light and cheerful for several longish car trips and this seemed like just the ticket, but as it turned out, it wasn’t quite what I thought it was going to be. It’s got a wonderful fizzy premise: a woman comes home to find her husband in her flat, which is odd, because when she left earlier in the day she was single. Then, when that husband goes up into the attic he turns into a different husband! So, it is definitely funny and lighthearted at times (so many husbands!), but at others there are opportunities for serious reflection on the choices we make, what is important in life, the results of a life with no consequences, the challenges of commitment, the elements of successful relationships, and more. It also comes with an ending that offers plenty of opportunity for further thought. I think some readers will walk away disappointed because the book wasn’t what they expected, but if a reader opens themselves up to what it actually is, they will find plenty of rewards within. This would absolutely be a great choice for book groups."

Featured Title
That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America by Amanda Jones
In 2022 Amanda Jones spoke up in favor of the freedom to read at a library board meeting in Lafeyette, Louisiana. A few days later, an organized campaign of online harassment began with messages sent from both outsiders and from people she’d known her entire life. Standing up in the face of an onslaught of threats, she sued her harassers and became an even louder voice against book bans across the nation. Her resolute stand against censorship is an inspiring story of resilience and perseverance, but also a call to action for readers on how they can defend books and the right to read in their own public libraries.
