Anime Trivia presents Artist Alley, a series of virtual events celebrating artists who work in the comic/graphic novel industry. Join guest authors and artists during our virtual programs to learn about their careers and work.

Teen Anime Trivia with Yehudi Mercado (July 23 at 4 p.m.)
Yehudi Mercado holding up a graphic novel.Special guest Yehudi Mercado kicks off the Artist Alley series during Teen Anime Trivia. Yehudi Mercado was born in Mexico City and grew up in Houston, Texas. After college, Yehudi worked in video games and eventually became an art director for Disney Interactive, where he co-wrote and art-directed the Guardians of the Galaxy mobile game. His graphic novels include Chunky, Hero Hotel, Rocket Salvage, Fun Fun Fun World, and Sci-Fu. Yehudi was the artist on the Epic Original graphic novel Cat Ninja. Yehudi also created a narrative podcast based on his graphic novel Hero Hotel for the Pinna Network.

Free Comic Book Day with Justin Greenwood (August 14 at 4 p.m.)

Justin Greenwood is an artist best known for his work on comic book series like Compass, Stumptown, Crone, The Last Siege, Stringers, The Fuse, Wasteland, Resurrection and the non-fiction graphic novel Alexander Hamilton: The Graphic History of an American Founding Father. Born and raised in the Bay Area, he attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA and graduated with a BFA in Traditional Illustration. Greenwood is also one of the executive producers of the ABC television show Stumptown, based on the Oni Press comic of the same name.    
No Book Required - Teen Book Club with Samia Selene Fakih (August 20, 2021 at 4 p.m.)
Samia Selene Fakih.Samia Selene Fakih is the special guest for Artist Alley during the No Book Required Book Club. Samia Selene Fakih NYC illustrator, has self-published a few mini comics including Merboy, Potato Chips, Glitch, and Soft Sounds (Webtoon). Her work has also appeared in various publications, such as Pub Crawl Anthology (2019), W42 Magazine (Jan 2020 and Feb 2020), Desert Island Comic’s Rescue Party project (2020), The Art Students League presents: This Quarantine Life (2020) and Heroic Care Anthology (2021).
     

Teen Anime Trivia with Samuel Soto Saines & Nicky Rodriguez(August 27, 2021 at 4 p.m.)

Sam Soto is a Latino comic artist heavily influenced by his lifelong love of manga and anime. It’s been his dream to be a published creator of Manga in the west. In 2019 he graduated with an MFA in Comics from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.





Nicky Rodriguez.Nicky Rodriguez is a queer Puerto Rican comic artist, flatter, and colorist. She is the creator of two ongoing webcomics, The Unlucky Ones and the Edge of Nowhere, and, The Smoke in the Mirror. In 2018, she started out making autobiographical zines exploring mental health, the impermanence of time and memory, her existential ennui, and the meaning of home and homesickness in connection to being of the Puerto Rican diaspora. She continues to explore these subjects in her fiction comics, looking to find ways in which traditional comic narrative form can be deconstructed through depictions of ephemerality as it relates to emotion, memory, and time.
