Learn how to help a young child get ready to read
When you talk, sing, read, write and play with a young child, you stimulate the growth of their brain and build connections that become the building blocks for reading and lifelong learning. Discover even more ways you can support their learning with the library’s early learning workshops and tips.
Early Learning Workshops
Sacramento Public Library is partnering with the Sacramento County Office of Education’s (SCOE) Early Learning Department to offer a series of free early learning workshops for families with young children.
Each of the four workshops provides information on how to support the early learning skills of young children that prepare them to become readers. Each workshop will include songs and movement activities that are structured for adults to watch with a young child, including children who are dual language learners. Each family who attends will receive a set of new picture books and other early learning activities. Each workshop is offered in English (see schedule below) and in Spanish
