The former Sacramento News & Review Building will become the new home of the North Sacramento-Hagginwood Library.

The City of Sacramento acquired the building in 2021 and plans are underway to retrofit the space for a new, larger library. The 19,000-square-foot building will replace the current 4,000-square-foot library to create a large community hub. The new space will feature a community meeting room, dedicated areas for teens and young children, and a creative space for the community.  The new location has ample parking and is close to a light-rail station. This project is funded by $7.2 million Building Forward Infrastructure grant from the California State Library.

Community Engagement

The City of Sacramento engaged the community through surveys, and public meetings in 2024.
