The first library in Rio Linda opened on September 26, 1916, in space shared with the post office in Huston’s Grocery Store. On September 21, 2013, Rio Linda Library moved to the site of the former Rio Linda Elementary School at 6724 6th Street. This beautifully renovated building offers modern technology in a very welcoming, cozy setting. There are comfortable armchairs in each area of the library, and plenty of tables and chairs for reading, studying, and hanging out. The children’s area offers toys and puppets, donated by the active Friends group. Windows look out over a playground and softball field.
Our library also features a Seed Library for sharing seeds for vegetables, herbs, and more.
The Friends of the Rio Linda Library manage an ongoing book sale, located in the lobby, and proceeds from the non-profit sale will be used to support programs for children, teens, and adults.
