Your library card provides free access to books, digital media, learning resources and technology. Netbooks, Chromebooks, and tablets are now available at select library locations. These devices can be checked out for use onsite for up to two hours. Your onsite check out may be extended if there is no one waiting. Wi-Fi hotspots can also be placed on hold for pick up at any library location and checked out for six weeks.
How to Check Out Netbooks and Chromebooks (Two hour onsite use only)
Access the internet, check email, watch videos, listen to music, and more. Visit select library locations and ask staff for assistance with checking out Netbooks and Chromebooks for use onsite for up to 2 hours. See list below for locations.
How to Check Out Tablets (One hour onsite use only)
Tablet stations provide easy access to a wide range of digital content, from newspapers to ebooks, games and apps. To check out a tablet for onsite use, simply scan your library card and the docking station will automatically release a tablet for use anywhere within the library. See list below for locations.
How to Check Out Wi-Fi Hotspots and Chromebooks (Six week checkout)
Adult cardholders can check out Chromebooks as well as Wi-Fi hotspots with free internet connectivity for six weeks. To check out one of these devices from any library location,
place a hold online or call customer service at 916-264-2920. Due to high volume of demand, there may be a waitlist for hotspots and Chromebooks.
