Have Questions?
Are there any requirements to join the adult literacy program?

The program is for native English speakers or English language learners who need to build basic skills, beginning reading levels through 8th grade. You must be a Sacramento County resident, and be willing to meet at least once a week about 6 months or longer, and able to make progress toward personal learning goals.

How can I become a tutor?

If you are at least 18 years old and can commit to tutor for 1.5 to 2 hours a week for about 6 months or longer, sign up for tutor training and you’ll be on your way to helping adults in your community improve their literacy skills. Basic technology skills are required, or a willingness to learn them: email, navigating web sites and online programs. Learn more.

Can I sign up someone I know up for the literacy program?

If you know an adult who wants to receive tutoring but needs assistance contacting us, please use the form on this page. However, please do not sign up an adult who is not really interested or ready at this time. Personal motivation and commitment is important for success.
