Adult Literacy

Supporting adult learners in meeting their literacy goals.

In Sacramento County, 13% of the total adult population lack even the most basic literacy skills.

Adult learners who work with our literacy tutors achieve goals that include voting for the first time, reading aloud to their children, and finding employment.

We provide the resources to support adult learners with:

  • One-on-one instruction from trained literacy volunteers
  • Books and instructional materials at no cost
  • A supportive environment working with tutors who care
