When William Faulkner was asked what the three best novels of all time were, he replied, "Anna Karenina, Anna Karenina, Anna Karenina." We are delighted that Anna Karenina is Central Library's next Reading Group selection.
To participate, just do the scheduled reading before each discussion. If you read ahead, please don't reveal spoilers! We will cover each of the novel's eight parts on the following days:
June 17: Part 1
July 1: Part 2
July 15: Part 3
July 29: Part 4
August 12: Part 5
September 2: Parts 6 & 7
September 16: Part 8
We are using the Norton Critical Edition of the Maude translation; however, feel free to use a different translation. It might even bring a different perspective to our discussions!
This program takes place before the library opens. Enter through the Old Foyer east of the main entrance. This entrance has steps, so contact sborelli@saclibrary.org if you need a more accessible entrance.
